An Energy Upgrade is suitable if you already have good attic insulation, windows, and doors. It aims to enhance your Building Energy Rating (BER) and enable you to produce your own renewable energy. The installation of Solar PV (electricity generation) plays a significant role in this. With the rising electricity costs and the introduction of the Micro-Generation Support Scheme (MSS), your surplus electricity can earn you credits from your energy supplier. This has notably shortened the time it takes to recoup your investment. An air-to-water heat pump can eliminate reliance on fossil fuels, instead powering your home with clean, renewable energy.

A Retrofit Enhancement is a tailored combination of home energy improvements designed to match your individual residence and situation. It encompasses a blend of upgrades aimed at enhancing comfort (heat retention/insulation) and energy efficiency (solar/renewable). If your home currently possesses a notably low BER rating, several upgrades will be necessary to elevate it to the SEAI-mandated minimum B2 rating.
